Mission Statement

For the past few years, I have been focused on building my business, and helping out athletes, and Non-Profits in the action sports industry. In January of 2008, after months of being sick, and losing 50 pounds, I was diagnosed with Metastatic Colon Cancer. After a year of denial, and depression, I have emerged with spirit and inspiration. The goal of this blog page is to raise money so that I can free my time for volunteer work, and fundraising events, relieve my mother of her monthly monetary support that comes from her IRA, and raise money to achieve a few of my life's dreams. Thank you for checking out my page, and shop. I am an accomplished, honest, and caring businessman. The money from your contributions, and purchases will be used the most sensible, and efficient way possible. Best wishes, Scott Serchen

The cure for depression.

By Scott

My mom says it’s pills, and therapy, I kinda agree with the therapy part, I mean what can that hurt.  The pills however, I am not convinced.  The past couple weeks have been jam packed with activity.  It’s been a great distraction from reality, and I’ve been having a great time with great friends old and new.  I got to go up to Tahoe for the 4th of July, and work a couple shifts at Sam’s.  I love it there.  I love working behind a bar.  It’s my element for sure, and the other people that work there are awesome.  I went to hidden beach on the east shore with my friends Shannon, Amy, and Lane, and their dog Stewie, and floated the lake for a while.  AND I actually got my long time friend Katie to leave her house and see the Supersuckers with me at Bar24. Business wise, I tracked down Mike Leeper, the owner of Bar24, and met with him regarding the location for the winter movie series.  Bar24 is the perfect spot for that.  9 flat screen tv’s, and huge projection screen, and a stage for entertainment after the movies are finished.  I can’t wait to move forward with that and start lining up the movies and sponsors.

The weekend after the 4th, I went to Las Vegas to meet my friend Lael, who hooked me up with a ticket for UFC 100.  The fights were awesome, I can’t believe how HUGE Brock Lesnar is.  I took it pretty easy the night of the fights, went to the after party for a while, then was in bed by midnight.  I was supposed to fly out the next day at 3.  I extended my ticket, and Lael covered my 100.00 entrance to Rehab at the Hard Rock.  He won some money gambling the night before so he was happy to do so.  Rehab was nuts, it’s the biggest party I have ever been to.  Along with that , the quantity of hot girls, and Jersey type dudes was very high.  It made for great people watching all day.  Eventually the pools got disgusting.  Hopefully the amount of alcohol in the pools was enough to kill the other things in there if you know what I mean.  We met and hung out with a bunch of San Diego girls all day.  They were awesome.  It was the first time I had a real fun time in Vegas.

This last weekend, my friend Robyn from Seattle came to hang out.  She’s working at a kids summer camp at the Digital Media Academy, teaching web design to kids.  She listed the classes there, and it sounds awesome.  I know it’s for kids, but I’d like to sign up and learn all that stuff.  On Friday night we took the motorcycle into San Francisco, and ate at my favorite restaurant Park Chow, and went around the corner to the Mucky Duck, are dark little dive bar steeped in San Francisco baseball history with one pool table.  Saturday, we slept in a bit and packed the van for a trip to Santa Cruz.  At 11:30 we showed up at Marin Brewco for the “Fermenting Change” beer tasting, and benefit for the Charlotte Maxwell foundation that provides help to low income women going through chemo-therapy.  I love doing the volunteer work, but it kinda irritated me that they focus only on women.  If there was a place like that for men only, I am sure it would be burned to the ground.  Believe me, I’d love to get complimentary acupuncture, massage therapy, and all that stuff to help me with the pains and cramps I have from Cancer.  But it’s a good thing that they’re doing so I’m glad to volunteer.  After we were done at Marin Brewco, we jumped in the van and drove to Santa Cruz.  We checked the surf in Capitola, and met up with my friend Katy, who was at a trailer park grill out a few blocks away.  We got there to see everything good on the grill, pineapple, corn on the cob, skirt steak, it looked and smelled delicious.  We hing out there for a few hours, and found a mellow place to camp in the van.  I found a sweet place to park overlooking Aptos, and the beach there.  There was a band, fireworks, and classical music as we passed out from a long day in the sun.  Yesterday, we parked in the lot on 41st, checked the surf, walked to Paula’s for the best cheap breakfast on the Eastside.  On the way back we picked up a rental surfboard supposedly for my friend Robyn.  She ended up using my board, and I rode that softy till the wheels fell off.  The sun came out right as we got in the water, we surfed and lurked in the parking lot, relaxing all day.  We drove back up the coast, and when I got back, my roomies were back from a 10 day cruise vacation in Mexico.  It was great to catch up with them and see the pics of their adventures.  So that pretty much brings you up to speed with things.

From the last post about Heather, her Grandmother passed away a week ago.  I felt sad about that.  I’m still having issues with Wells Fargo, but a personal banker Ian from the Laguna Beach branch is stepping up to remedy things.  In 2 days, I fly to Orange County to volunteer for Boarding for Breast Cancer at the U.S. Open of surfing in Huntington.  I made the trip just long enough to hopefully see my friend Marten who is in Sweden currently, and recently got diagnosed with Lymphoma.  He gets back on the 28th, and I leave on the 29th.  So, it’s laundry and packing for me, I’ll see you in HB.

I’ll add some pics to this soon.  Thanks for reading.
